Prison cells look wildly different depending on where in the world you end up behind bars.

A single photo can say more about a country’s justice philosophy than a stack of policy papers. In Norway and Sweden, cells resemble minimalist student rooms, with wooden desks, big windows and a private bathroom. Germany goes a step further, with plants, bookshelves, curtains and a radiator beneath the window. Canada, the UK and Japan lean toward practical comfort, from an in-cell kettle and TV in Britain to tatami flooring and a folding futon in Japan.

Then the picture changes. Brazil and Pakistan show packed rooms where dozens of people share the same floor space. Egypt and Iran rely on rows of bunk beds for group living, while Russia’s cell is stripped to cold concrete, a rusted sink and a barred door. Mexico and Greece sit on the bare side too, with worn walls and basic mattresses.

Between those poles are the in-between models. France shows a lived-in single cell crammed with personal belongings. Italy and Poland rely on bunk beds, while Spain, Australia, China, India, Turkey and the USA present simple, functional layouts built around security first.

The contrast raises a bigger question: is a cell meant to punish, or to prepare someone for life after release?

overly grateful. overly joyful. overly blessed! 🥺💗

I just ran my SECOND half marathon with @nikela and I genuinely cannot believe it. what a dream and a blessing to be able to use the physical & mental strength God has given me to do hard things and completely body them!

I decided literally a month ago that I was going to run this thing (don’t try that at home btw 😭) and somehow beat my PR from last year by 21 minutes lol. nuts. and the crazy part? I genuinely thought I wasn’t going to finish. I started getting terrible muscle spasms at mile 9 and had no idea how I was going to make it through the next 4 miles. but God carried me through. He always does!

to my friends & family, yall are my heart in human form. I don’t take for granted how blessed I am to have a community that shows up for me the way yall do. thank you from the bottom of my heart. and to everyone who cheered me on, sent a message, or supported me along the way, I felt every bit of that love.

not to get preachy lol, but I hope this reminds someone that you’re capable of so much more than you give yourself credit for. sometimes you won’t feel ready. sometimes things won’t go according to plan, but leave room for God to wow you. and sometimes you’ll surprise yourself with what you’re able to push through.

I’m just really proud of the girl who decided to try 🏃🏾‍♀️✨🧑🏾‍🩰

No clue how to take pictures 👍🏻
