Sean Scheidt’s (@sean_scheidt_photography) portrait of Sophie Thatcher is one of our most mesmerizing images of 2025. Horror films have gripped American culture for the past few years, and 2025 showed that Sophie Thatcher is one of the genre’s rising stars. While much of the imagery you encounter in The Washington Post is documentary work focused on the major news stories of the day, we also put a lot of craft into culture coverage and portraiture of interesting figures in television, music and film.
