I’m an absolute sucker for a fated soulmate pairing, and if ever there were star crossed lovers, Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov surely qualify! I’ve been devouring every soulmate/soulmark/soul bond fanfic I can find on AO3, and here are four Works in Progress that I’m following like my sanity depends on it until 2027/Season 2 of Heated Rivalry comes to rescue me

Save these to your TBR and let me know what you think of them!

👽 Interesting fact: ⠀ Dude, Where’s My Car? (2000) — This adventure comedy film follows two best friends who wake up after a night of partying with no memory of where they parked their car. As they try to retrace their steps, they uncover a bizarre conspiracy that threatens the entire universe. They must navigate a series of increasingly absurd encounters to find their vehicle and save the day. ⠀ One interesting production fact is that screenwriter Philip Stark wrote the screenplay in 1998 while living in a small Hollywood apartment, and he has joked that the film was essentially a biopic of his life at the time. He spent most of his days smoking weed and eating takeout Chinese food, much like the main characters, Jesse and Chester. ⠀ What makes Dude, Where’s My Car? stand out is its unique blend of slapstick energy, stoner vibes, and early internet-era “random” humor, all wrapped in a science fiction mystery. The film takes the absurd logic of stoner comedies and applies it to two lovable knuckleheads whose primary motivation is simply making their girlfriends happy. Its central question is whether the search for a missing car can be a metaphor for the search for meaning in a chaotic universe.

Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI) endorsed Michigan GOP Senate candidate Mike Rogers on Sunday. Democratic Rep. Haley Stevens gave a surprise endorsement to Michigan GOP Senate candidate Mike Rogers on Sunday amid a rift with Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed that has come front and center in the final sprint to Election Day.  “Our Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate, Abdul, said that I was no longer welcome in his campaign and that I should stay away, and he’s right,” Stevens said in a video posted on social media Sunday. “And that’s why I am endorsing Mike Rogers for the United States Senate today.” She went to a Detroit church with Rogers on Sunday and sat next to him during the service before announcing her endorsement. Stevens’ decision stunned Democratic leaders, including Reps. Debbie Dingell of Michigan and Jamie Raskin of Maryland, who had spoken with her Saturday evening and said she had assured them she would vote for El-Sayed. Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer, who backed Stevens during the primary, called her decision a “betrayal.”  CNN’s Anderson Cooper interviewed Stevens Sunday and repeatedly asked her what changed her mind between her conversation with Dingell late Saturday night and Sunday morning. She did not answer him directly. At one point, she told him, “That’s just where I landed with this. I woke up this morning clear-eyed, fresh and, you know, focused on what was in my heart, and that’s that.”  Caption from article by Kaia Hubbard, CBS News
