Chanelle Pickett was a 23-year-old trans woman from New York, who was m*rdered outside Boston in 1995. her killer was convicted of assault and battery and served only two years in prison. her death would go on to play a role in the creation of Transgender Day of Remembrance. the portrait is made from pages of Harry Potter books. the author has a well documented history of using her enormous platform to spread misinformation about transgender people, under the guise of being "pro-women." this project seeks to provide healing to multiple generations of queer readers who found refuge in a magical world, only to have it tainted by the author's dangerous and harmful actions. prints will be available next week. 20% of the proceeds from the sale of this print will go to the LGBTQ+ Bar Association, who among many other things, is leading the charge to ban the LGBTQ+ "panic" defense. #translivesmatter #harrypotter #bookart #artistsoftiktok #artistcommunity
