London seems to have an exceptional series of exhibitions of every kind at the moment. This is from the single room exhibition at the National Gallery for the American painter Edwin Austin Abbey, and is his preparatory design for a mural of The Hours and Apotheosis of Pennsylvania, for the House of Representatives in the Pennsylvania State Capitol, Harrisburg. He died in London in 1911 while the work was being completed and despite having been resident in Chelsea is buried in the old church yard at Kingsbury in west London. His tombstone is listed.
