For years, I thought I lacked discipline.

Truth? I had an ADHD brain trying to cope in silence.

Alcohol became my escape. For a few hours, the noise stopped, the overthinking faded, and I finally felt calm.

But eventually, I wasn’t drinking for fun anymore. I was drinking to feel normal.

Successful outside. Struggling inside.

I lived this for 30 years.

Quitting didn’t cure my ADHD, but it helped me understand it and finally break the cycle.

Heartbreak can be one of the hardest experiences to go through because losing someone often means losing the future you imagined with them, too. Even after a relationship ends, people can find themselves thinking about small memories, old conversations, and the everyday routines they once shared. Moving on rarely happens all at once, and it is possible to miss someone while also knowing that the relationship was not right for you. Over time, the memories that once felt painful can become easier to look back on without carrying the same emotional weight. Sometimes, heartbreak changes the way people approach love, helping them understand themselves and what they truly need from a relationship.
