The BBC understands the man attacked by a tiger after entering its enclosure on Saturday afternoon is William Chapman.

An eyewitness described seeing the man wearing headphones and "pacing around" near the enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park before he went in and was attacked.

Police confirmed he was visiting the park on his own.

The wildlife park remains closed as investigations into the death continue.

Yorkshire Wildlife Park said the rare Amur tiger, called Altai, remained in the enclosure and would not be euthanised.

❤️‍🔥 There is something dangerous about a woman who carries so much calm within her and so much fire inside her. ❤️‍🔥

I have a kind nature and a sweet soul.

But beneath that softness lives a furious soldier. 🤍🔥

It’s unbelievable that it’s come to this: the Ontario (Ford) government is undermining our democratic laws, principles and conventions. AND spending $48 million to rip up 3 Toronto bike lanes.

I remember what Bloor St was like without bike lanes, and can’t believe people who bike are being forced to ride in the vehicle lane. It’s completely bananas. 🍌

It’s also incredibly dangerous. As Ontario ERs are bursting at the seams, the Ford government is pursuing a divisive political rhetoric that will send more vulnerable road users to the ER.
