Meet SK. They love living in the South, and they’re here to tell you why.
Beyond the stereotypes, there’s beauty, kindness, and deep community here. Our documentary, Fixin’ to Stay, centers trans and queer mutual aid, survival, activism, and joy across the region, shifting how people see the South and the people who call it home.
Fixin’ to Stay is trans- led. On average, only 4 cents, of every $100 awarded by U.S. foundations goes towards trans communities and issues. (@lgbtfunders )
The U.S. South has historically receives a disproportionately low percentage of national philanthropic funding, often cited as less than 3%. (@southerngrants )
Nearly 36% of the nation’s adult LGBTQ+ population lives in the South, representing more than 5 million people. Making it so the most LGBTQ+ people who live in the US live in the Southeast. (@lgbtmap )
