caravaggio @robertobolle una finale ❤️ january 10, 2023. i receive a short message: “good morning maria. roberto bolle has advised us he is inviting you to dance with him three performances of «caravaggio» by mauro bigonzetti” shock and awe. roberto! unattainable, hugely popular, distant, and a stranger to me. in may, i travel to argentina. a 16-hour flight from istanbul, i arrive exhausted, with a rehearsal the next day. roberto arrives from milan the following day; he, too, has spent 15 hours in the air. straight from the plane, he heads to the studio for rehearsal. and for 3 hours straight, he teaches me, a 22yo inexperienced girl, a ballet so new to me. not a single rehearsal at half strength. never. 3 years (an eternity!) and 36 performances (unbelievable!) later, one fact remains unchanged: roberto bolle is the hardest-working artist and the most devoted to his art. but now he is no longer just a symbol and a star that inspires me. still as unfathomable as ever, yet now close and dear to my heart, through our partnership and the example of his dancing, he has taught me all these years not only the art of performance, but also the magic of bringing a role to life, the depth of a character, and simply the greatness of a person. after our final performance, i told him through tears: “you have influenced my life so much you cannot even imagine”. i want the seeds of beauty and sincerity that roberto has planted to keep growing within me, always. this chapter has come to an end. it was the final run of our “caravaggio” performances. my gratitude to roberto is beyond question. but i am grateful to the ballet itself, too! the life of a genius, an artist. returning to this story again and again over the years, i discovered new layers of meaning in the words “creativity”, “inspiration”, “light”, “darkness”, “death”, and “eternal life”. where would i be if this ballet had never crossed my path? ….end of the text in the comments

On October 17th, we showed the mansion owning elites who Vancouver truly belongs to. This city belongs to the workers who have built it brick by brick, to the seniors who have watched their neighbourhoods grow over decades, and to the student renters struggling to afford to stay. This movement has proven that no matter how much money and institutional power the rich have, they cannot defeat the united power of the people. I am honoured to have been elected as Vancouver’s youngest ever city councillor, at just 21, and Vancouver’s first openly nonbinary city councillor. I am so excited to serve this city alongside my amazing friends @seanorrofficial @intheknow_withchlo and @kumari_devyani on council. and I am so excited to work with our progressive friends from @vancouvergreens and @onecityvancouver especially the amazing Mayor-elect @ptfry Thank you to everyone who ran for taking part in our city’s democracy and motivating people to come out for record breaking early voting turnout. And congratulations to everyone who won, across all 3 boards. We are going to do great work together. Our movement has shown what it means for socialism and people power to win, now we need to show what it means for socialism and people power to govern. We are going to get straight to work to build affordable housing, protect tenants, take on the corporate lobbyists, and stop the AI data centres. Thank you to every one of the over 60,000 voters and to the hundreds of volunteers who made this possible. I am so honoured to have been a part of the movement that we have all built together, and I am so excited to get to work for this city that we all love.
