Someone recently told me my house looks “too perfect” and “like a showroom.” Meanwhile half the house is covered in dust sheets, two rooms are basically storage, and I move clutter out of shot before every photo like everyone else on Instagram.

I think social media has genuinely warped people’s expectations of what homes are supposed to look like. Nobody lives in a permanently spotless renovation reveal.

At least I hope not, because that sounds exhausting.

Real homes get messy.
Projects stay unfinished.
Dogs destroy cushions.
Laundry exists.

Instagram just crops most of it out.

Honestly, how lucky am I

If you didn’t see all the news about the Influencer couple with millions of followers who decided to terminate their baby at 5 months along due to have having trisomy 21 and publicly share their justifications for it, that’s what I’m sharing this for.

Saying that a baby with Down Syndrome “is not a blessing” is infuriating. This isn’t a conversation about being pro life or not. This is about someone publicly sharing why their baby didn’t deserve to be here because he had Down Syndrome and how it was going to be medically shitty for them - spreading this opinion to millions who might now feel the same.

If you, “don’t fully understand what Down syndrome entails” watch this. It is not a glitch. Down Syndrome is a beautiful miracle.

And if you don’t think any child could be “medically shitty”, educate yourself. 😵‍💫

*To the moms who have lost a baby with Down Syndrome while pregnant I am so so sorry, I wish these pregnancies weren’t more fragile, but they often are. And to any parents who chose to terminate before learning more and who felt pressured by medical providers and have regret, I am incredibly sorry. I hate that more of the world doesn’t see the beauty that comes with DS. My heart is with you❤️
