Clavish is back with a new tape, “Yesterday Was Once Tomorrow”. A very enjoyable collection of songs, this is Clavish back to his best. His rise hasn’t been a case of linear progression, and recently some incidents outside of the booth have taken the shine away from his music. But we all know Clavish is a talented artist, and this new project proves it.

The title track “Yesterday Was Once Tomorrow”, is one of the best tracks I’ve heard from Clavish in a long time. The lead single “Blow A Wish” holds some memorable bars, with Noni Madueke name dropped on the tune. “CC Walk” with Chy Cartier will be the mainstream highlight from this tape. However, Catch’s verse on “Stay Rappin’” is the better out of the 2 features. “Phantom” is my favourite song from this project, with Clavish getting into his singing bag. An experimental track which shows the abundance of talent Clavish has. “12 Hundred A Night” and “Average” close the tape on a positive note.

As I said before, this is Clavish back to his best and sets off a new independent era for the rapper. I’m not sure it reached the heights of “Rap Game Awful” or “Chapter 16”, but the floor level on this project is much higher and that shows important improvement.
