Joe Rice - Muralist, Live Painter, Designer

This year has been a wild ride. Maybe you’ve heard, but I started a mural painting business this Summer and it transformed my life in ways I would never imagine.

I applied to the Hertel Alley Mural festival last winter, thinking it would be a total long shot to be accepted. I’d never worked on a mural before and I had a batshit crazy idea of painting Muppet Godzilla invading Buffalo. Then I got an acceptance letter from @asiwny and I remember just triumphantly screaming in my car like a crazy person.

Right then and there I set a wicked high bar for myself to work on 6 murals and I didn’t care if they were mine or if I was assisting a lead artist realize their vision.

By the end of October I painted 2 murals of my own design and helped 5 amazing artists create 4 murals spread across western New York.

I want to sincerely thank the following artists for trusting me to work on their murals. You all helped change my life in the most amazing way. Please check out their work and give them a follow:

@driftmuralco
@sarahgeebee.art
@miss.birdy
@_emilyding
@aerosolkingdom

Also special shoutouts to @ahconsultingllc and everyone on the Paint CHQ Team. As well as @joelferoleto and @asiwny for organizing the Hertel Alley Mural Festival. Thank you to all the friends and family that came out to be my assistants, especially my brother who spent his birthday weekend helping me paint at Hertel! #mural #muralpainting
