THIS is totally the final post from Anime405 😁
Here's the (mostly) full clip from the panel with @sdownes117 and @jentaylortown . I wanted to share the full thing because of how important it was for me.
Growing up, my very first video game was Halo 2, my favorite ever show to watch was Red vs Blue. Before I even knew how to talk I was listening to Chief and Cortona. I've played every launch since then, I've heard every voice line and I've seen every secret the series has to offer. Halo has always been with me.
When my dad wasn't there, I had the Master Chief. When I couldn't live with my mom, I had Cortana. They may just be voices behind a screen, but to me and hundreds of thousands of young boys and girls, they're idols, people to look up to when you have nobody else, heroes to be when you grow up. Hell, I enrolled in college for video game design SPECIFICALLY because of the impact Halo had on me.
So, standing there in front of hundreds, meeting my childhood heroes, it was one of the most important and memorable things in my entire life and I will forever be grateful for that experience.
When I got my helmet signed, they spoke to me like real people. Not high and mighty kings, but people. Steve and I talked about where we were from, places we want to see. Jen's words though, I will never forget her kindness.
I explained to her that this was a massive step forward for me, I've never really been able to talk to people I don't know, but she talked to me for way too long. She held up her line just so I could tell her how important her performance was, and how much it meant to me and even the kids I teach. She even took a picture of me for her husband because he loves funny shirts too.
They say to never meet your heroes, and I'm so glad I never listen.
Thank you to everyone who was there, and thank you to every single person that put their time and love and effort into making Halo persist over the last 24 years.
Thank you.
