May ‘25 Pteronarcys proteus nurtures Parapsyche apicalis. Literally, Parapsyce consumes Ptero’s poo-poori across nutrient spiral wavelengths. They live in this >- coldwater habitat mosaic in west PA. It’s one of my favorite spots near this unearthed hemlock root mass. It has the moss-cased caddis Adicrophleps hitchcocki here and this early instar Micrasema sp. with that sweet heptageniid, Cinygmula subaequalis >- there’s a great population of the sporadic and uncommon liverwort-cased Paleagapetus celsus too >- also this systellognathan Sallfly Alloperla imbecillus and >-Northern Pygmy Lanthus parvulus present with palpi pictured. All very sensitive indicator species. >- tossing in a nice West Virginia rainbow🌈 for color. #aquaticinsects #macroinvertebrates
