⭐️ NEW MEM MONDAY ⭐️ Introducing Aomi! Aomi is a Sophomore from Riverside, CA! She is studying Global Health, with a minor in Juvenile Justice. Outside of Alpha Chi, she works as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Garfield Medical Center. She is also studying for her wellness coach license with USC’s School of Social Work! And she’s super into cooking and travel! Here’s Aomi’s why for joining Alpha Chi: “Growing up in Vietnam, I witnessed first hand the impacts of systemic patriarchy and domestic violence. Coming to USC as a non LA native student, I was searching for a purpose, but also a place to belong. I found both in Alpha Chi Omega. What made me stay with Alpha Chi is my dedication to help support domestic violence victims. There is absolutely no pressure to fit a certain mold here; instead, these girls celebrate and uplift everyone’s personal, niche identity. ❤️” Some fun facts about Aomi: 1. One of her biggest passions is studying the healthcare system and working to better it. 2. Her favorite way to spend her weekend is ordering food and watching movies with her friends! 3. Her favorite TV show is Criminal Minds or Private Practice! We are so lucky to have you in Alpha Chi, Aomi! 💓
A #Texas detention deputy is out of a job after photos of her posing with jail inmates surfaced on social media.🚔 According to News 4 San Antonio, 18-year-old Karla Beltran was fired from the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office on Monday (Oct. 12), just over 100 days after joining the department. The controversial photos show Beltran sitting in front of a window separating her from an inmate holding area, with several inmates posing alongside her from behind the glass. In one image, the former deputy can even be seen flipping off the camera. Beltran, who began working for the department on July 1, was still serving her one-year probationary period, during which employees can be dismissed for failing to meet conduct standards without the option to appeal. The sheriff’s office confirmed her termination, adding that investigators are still looking into how the photos were taken, who snapped them, and where they were shared. Officials also clarified that no criminal charges are pending in connection with the incident. #TJBCrew, do y’all think she was wrongfully terminated, or was the department justified in firing her? 👀
