Have you seen this light installation already? ✨ Infinity of Light by @billithanner. 🌟
Symbols shape how we feel and understand space. With Infinity of Light, Billi Thanner presents a monumental public installation at Vienna’s Votive Church. Four years after Himmelsleiter, she continues her dialogue between architecture, perception, and urban space.
The 28 × 8 m illuminated aluminium sculpture forms a horizontal eight—an ancient symbol of infinity. Its scale refers to the eight minutes light needs to travel from the sun to Earth, transformed into a poetic metaphor for continuity, balance, and connection.
Suspended between the neo-Gothic towers, the work creates a striking contemporary contrast. Privately funded and independent of institutions, Infinity of Light reflects Thanner’s belief that art should be free, visible, and accessible to all.
