Elon Musk has officially unveiled Tesla’s long-awaited next-generation Roadster, and its capabilities seem almost impossible. During the reveal, the electric supercar demonstrated a 0–60 mph acceleration time of just 0.81 seconds, making it one of the quickest acceleration demonstrations ever shown for a car. But that wasn’t even the craziest part. Using a system of compressed-air thrusters developed with SpaceX technology, the Roadster was shown jumping over cars, performing flips in midair, and even driving upside down. Originally announced in 2017, the Roadster has faced nearly a decade of delays, with production now planned for 2028. Tesla says the extreme flying and flipping version won’t be approved for public roads, but the demonstration offered a glimpse of just how far automotive engineering could go.
