So finding solutions when finances are tight and making a difference to your personal circumstances has been one of the benefits for us by choosing the lifestyle and environment we want to live here in Spain. We moved here after living near Granada and started all over again. The hard work is starting to pay off and thought I’d share a few before and after pictures of just some of the work we have been busy creating😊
The underbuild first then pool and patio/garden photos to follow in a separate post.
Firstly the underbuild epic. Aim to provide our growing teenager with his own space as he grows into a young adult. The first task which took me 4 months of initially crawling into the work space and digging by shovel then carrying out by hand, and bucket to clear over 100 tonnes of soil. Saved money by reusing the soil to level our large garden out the back of the house one bucket at a time but created what we think is an amazing space for Logan.
He is happy as the old proverbial pig in shit and done for a fraction of the crazy money rogue builders thought they could chance their arms at quoting us for doing the work. Only thing I/we didn’t do was connecting the electrics and fitting the air con but I did the first fixes and it’s amazing what can be done when you do good research. It took us virtually a whole year and a heap of google videos, including damp proofing/tanking and underpinning/form work but super proud of how it has turned out. Also done completely legally and added to our deeds via an excellent architect and helpful local town council.
Now onto our pool and patio project. Seperate post to follow. Added bonus, teaching Logan life lessons. When you are delivered lemons, turn them into lemonade. He knows knows if he wants something but can’t afford it, the value of DIY, not to mention how to mix concrete🤣🤣Life lessons at their best😎👊🏻
