• @asteria__archives “Lee Krasner (1908–1984) and Jackson Pollock (1912–1956) met in New York in 1942 and married in 1945. They lived and worked in Springs, Long Island, where Krasner supported Pollock’s career while developing her own painting. Their relationship was shaped by artistic exchange, Pollock’s struggles with alcoholism, and his affair with painter Ruth Kligman (1930–2010). In 1956, Pollock died at 44 in a car accident while driving under the influence of alcohol. Kligman survived the crash, while another passenger, Edith Metzger, was killed. Krasner, who was in Paris at the time, later began working in Pollock’s former studio, creating some of her most significant large-scale paintings.”
