Laureates Science Innovation and Education Initiative - Ebonyi Laureates × Kachem Young Initiative hosts our pilot cohort of an Academic Mentorship Programme.
Ebonyi State is largely rural. Access to quality education, digital infrastructure, and global academic exposure remains limited for many of our young people.
📊 Why this matters:
According to national and global education indicators, Nigeria’s tertiary education enrollment rate is below 15%, far behind the global average of over 40%. States with predominantly rural populations—including Ebonyi—remain among the most affected, with limited access to mentorship, research exposure, and competitive academic pipelines.
Beyond statistics, many Ebonyi youths carry an unfair burden: their excellence is often doubted, their intellect questioned, and their origin used, consciously or unconsciously, as a measure of limitation. Yet, excellence exists here. Brilliance exists here. What is missing is structured access, exposure, and belief-backed guidance.
That is why we launched the Ebonyi Laureates × Kachem Young Initiative Academic Mentorship Programme.
🎯 About the Programme
This first-ever cohort is designed to connect ambitious Ebonyi youths (18+) with seasoned academics, scholars, and professionals [from Ebonyi and beyond] who understand both the system and the barriers. This is about bridging gaps, correcting narratives, and equipping a generation to compete [globally and confidently].
👩🏽🎓👨🏽🎓 Who Should Apply
Young Ebonyians who want to:
1. Win competitive local & international scholarships
2. Improve their CGPA and academic direction
3. Secure Master’s or PhD admissions
5. Build confidence and clarity as academic leaders
🎓 What Mentees Will Gain:
1. Proven strategies for scholarships and graduate school applications
2. Guidance on research, academic writing & career planning
3. Access to accomplished academics and professional networks
4. Personal development support: confidence, resilience & communication
5. A structured, monitored mentorship journey tailored to individual goals.
