I used to think grief would get easier with time. And in some ways it does—but in others, it gets heavier. Not because the pain grows, but because the list of things I wish you could’ve seen keeps getting longer.
Graduating college. Getting married. Meeting my best friends. Becoming a school administrator. Building a life I know you would be so proud of.
Today is your birthday, and I feel you with me in all of it. In the quiet moments, in the strength you passed down, in the way I keep growing into pieces of you every day. I can’t wait to keep becoming more like you as I grow older.
Today I’ll celebrate all the ways you were amazing, hold space for missing you, and look for the silver lining that still lies ahead.
Happy Birthday, Mom 🤍
