"Happy Nation" stands as the title track from Ace of Base's breakthrough debut album of the same name, released in 1992. The Swedish pop group, formed in 1990 by siblings Jonas and Malin "Linn" Berggren, Jenny Berggren, and Ulf Ekberg, blended reggae-pop influences into this upbeat anthem. It became a major European hit, topping charts in Denmark, Finland, and France while reaching the top five in several other countries.
The track envisions an idealistic society built on unity, understanding, and brotherhood, urging listeners to recognize humanity's excesses with lines like "Tell them we've gone too far." It promotes collective salvation through timeless ideas rather than individual rule, blending optimism with a call for change. Happy Nation (retitled The Sign in North America) sold over 21 million copies worldwide, hitting number one in multiple countries including the UK and US.
