Welcome to the season of @emilyhampshire 👑

This October, Hampshire stars in “VisionQuest”, Marvel’s latest superhero series on Disney+, where she plays AI E.D.I.T.H. alongside Paul Bettany’s Vision. Before that, there’s “Slo Pitch”, Crave’s comedy about a queer underdog softball team, with Hampshire as the coach’s evil ex-girlfriend. Then comes “Heated Rivalry” Season 2, loosely slated for April 2027, where she’ll play Vanessa, a queer, sex-positive feminist.

Where these three otherwise very different projects meet is exactly where Hampshire excels: They require an actor with a deep love of play, a reverence for kind comedy and the ability to inhabit joy in all its forms, whether that’s a wickedly fun mean girl or a happy-go-lucky robot.

It would be easy to believe that the actor’s extroverted exuberance is innate, but Hampshire’s relationship with her craft hasn’t always been so easy. For years, auditions triggered full-body hives.

“I’ve done a lot of therapy to understand where that [fear] comes from,” she reflects. “Now, I’m trying to remember what it felt like getting the call for my first audition—it felt like winning the lottery.”
