5 things I’ve learnt as a solo traveller:
1. Slow down, you don’t have to see everything at once.
2. Don’t go to a place just for a photo, because everyone else has been there, or “to say you’ve been there.” If you have no interest, don’t waste your time. Go do something that interests you.
3. Travelling showed me to enjoy the present moment because later you be wishing you were that exact moment again.
4. Remember every friend you have now was once a stranger. Talk to everyone. Give someone a compliment. I have met some of my best travel friends from literally just smiling at them, everyone is seeking connection.
5. Be prepared for the unexpected. Shit things will happen, and sometimes you. won’t have someone with you. Learn to deal with things out of your control. If you don’t laugh, you’ll cry. Make light of shitty situations.
