Brothers from Another Mother — Ludwig Big & Francis Cash

Someday we’ll have all the answers to life won’t we? Until then an update of life lately; still hurting while healing along with humor as know I can’t help myself. And being the human that I am, I love documenting all parts. Speaking of that my story isn’t ending here, sharing it isn’t ending here and I’ll leave it on that note.

Barbie Dolls of the World, making the world just a bit smaller.

You may not know this, but our Barbie club has an honorary member – Natalie, who lives across the world in Namibia, which is in Southern Africa. It’s been so special, getting to know her and her beautiful country they face time calls and package exchange.
Perhaps that’s why I love the dolls of the world so much – not only are they educational, but they really do help us feel closer to people farther away, and they remind us that the world really isn’t as big as it seems. They are all people, and we share the same joys and the same woes..
That’s an important lesson for both children and adults!
These are just a few of the Dolls of the World in my collection, this batch from 1994-1995. They have luxurious fabrics, incredible face molds, and I feel they truly capture what we knew of each country at the time.
Looking for some fun reading? Each box back is check full of information- I adore that part!
Do you collect DOTW? Do you have a friend in a far away place? These dolls can connect you, educate you and delight you, and I’ll continue to collect them as long as I can.
It makes me feel like it’s truly a smaller world, and we aren’t alone in it!
Stay safe, and know you are loved.

Freedom 🩷

In The Souls of Black Folk, W.E.B. Du Bois introduced the concept of “double consciousness” - seeing ourselves not only through our own eyes, but through the eyes of the world.

Sometimes, we become so absorbed in meeting others’ expectations that we slowly lose sight of who we truly are. We learn to seek approval, fear judgment and become who we re expected to be, forgetting the person we once wanted to become.

Perhaps true freedom isn’t about no longer caring what others think but about knowing whose voices deserve to be heard and which ones we must learn to let go. The world will always have opinions about who we should be. But we were never meant to spend our lives proving our worth to everyone. Freedom is not about being seen differently by the world, but about no longer needing the world’s permission to be urself. And when all the noise finally fades, may we find our way back to the one person we should never have lost along the way: ourselves.
