I have been told my posts about childbirth might scare women away from giving birth. So let me be very clear. I am not trying to scare anyone. I am trying to make the rest of us understand what women actually go through. I am a man. My children are the greatest gift I have ever received. But I will never know what it is like to have my body stretched, torn, cut, stitched and changed to bring another human being into the world. The closest I will ever come is the privilege of standing beside a woman while she does it. And when you stand in that room you realise there is nothing weak about childbirth, nothing ordinary about it, and nothing shameful about talking about the hard parts. Talking about them does not diminish the beauty of motherhood. It honours the price that can come with it. So yes, I am going to keep talking about it. Because what women endure to bring life into this world deserves far more respect than we give it. If you have given birth, by any means, in any room, with any outcome, tell me in the comments. Because you did the most extraordinary thing a human being is capable of and I want the world to see how many of you there are. โค๏ธ Share this with someone who thinks the hard parts should stay unspoken. #childbirth #motherhood #birth #womenshealth #drjonny
