I think losing a friend because of life can be more painful than a break up with a lover. Breakups are the end. A definitive end a match not meant to be and that’s okay.
Drifting apart from a friend is just that nothing. What was wrong? Nothing, life simply happens as we grow apart the conversation we shared together, the moments where we bonded in time get covered thicker and thicker layer of nostalgia. Until that’s all that’s left.
I find that pieces of my former friends still live inside me. So do my current ones. Their jokes, their arguments, the opinions we clashed over, the beliefs we shaped together. I am an accumulation of shared experiences, of borrowed phrases, of perspectives exchanged over years.
I love my friends. This isn’t about anyone in particular. Just a fleeting thought that lingered long enough to grow into something larger. A thank you to everyone who has ever entered and exited my life, even if only briefly.
