STARING NICOLAS CAGE ❤️‍🔥 Now playing on the Criterion Channel! Pioneer of a style of acting he calls “nouveau shamanic,” Cage stretches the boundaries of screen performance to their limits, pursuing a heightened, kabuki-like expressionism that is instinctive, abstract, and thrillingly unpredictable. That he has deployed this approach across offbeat independent projects and major Hollywood blockbusters alike makes him a truly one-of-a-kind star: the leading man as wild man, a force so galvanic that, even when working with major directors like Spike Jonze (ADAPTATION.), David Lynch (WILD AT HEART), Werner Herzog (BAD LIEUTENANT: PORT OF CALL NEW ORLEANS), and Martin Scorsese (BRINGING OUT THE DEAD), he often emerges as the film’s co-auteur, reshaping its texture through his live-wire physicality and risk-taking choices few other actors would dare attempt.
