Be Home Late Oil and oil pastel on linen 100 x 150 cm
A man asleep on the last train home after office drinks. Suit still on, head dropped, keys spilled onto the floor. His body given in to exhaustion before the journey ends. The train keeps moving. Someone opposite him reads a book.
Painted from a photograph I took myself, this work looks at how alcohol, ambition and exhaustion blur together in modern working life. A quiet moment where burnout surfaces in public, then disappears just as quickly. It explores the quiet reflection on the non reactive nature of city life.
