President #DonaldTrump has reportedly agreed to immediately grant a U.S. travel visa to a #Ghanaian mother whose 15-year-old son was shot and killed while walking to school in the #Bronx, #NewYork. New York City Mayor #ZohranMamdani announced the decision Saturday, October 31, after personally speaking with Trump about the family’s situation.

The victim, Javits Frimpong, 15, was fatally shot around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 29, near Crotona Park in the Bronx. Police found the teenager suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen and rushed him to St. Barnabas Hospital in a patrol car, where he was pronounced dead. Frimpong had moved from Ghana to New York just last year to live with his father, Thomas Frimpong, while his mother remained in Ghana.

Following the tragedy, Mamdani contacted President Trump to request an emergency visa so the grieving mother could travel to the United States and say goodbye to her son in person. Mamdani said Trump agreed to grant the visa immediately, emphasizing that no parent should have to endure losing a child while being thousands of miles away. However, the White House had not independently confirmed the decision at the time of the report.

Meanwhile, police have not announced any arrests or identified suspects in the teenager’s killing. The tragedy has sparked concerns among New York’s Ghanaian community about neighborhood safety.
