Try this rotator cuff warm-up before your upper body days to reduce your risk of injuring your shoulders, and to perform better during your session.
To set up and execute this:
- Set the cable height slightly above your hip and attach a D-Handle.
- Stand with the left side of your body facing the cable, and hold on to the handle with your right hand.
- Keep your right elbow glued to the side of your body, while extended to a 90 degree angle, and rotate this elbow to bring your right hand toward the direction you’re facing.
- Ensure the elbow remains fixed to your side and in a controlled manner allow your right hand to travel back toward the cable.
- Repeat this movement for a set of 10-15 reps then perform the same exercise facing the opposite direction and using the opposite hand and elbow.
Do not do this exercise with a dumbbell because due to gravity, there is no tension placed on the rotator cuff, so you’re simply wasting time.
