THE most important area of your life
the relationship you’re in, the person you’re sharing your nervous system with
is often the area that gets the least intention, education and care.
Here are 6 things I genuinely wish every couple would do:
1️⃣ Keep focusing on yourself.
Your healing doesn’t stop because you’re in a relationship. Stay devoted to your own life, your interests, your friendships, your growth. Two individuals choosing each other is very different from two people losing themselves.
2️⃣ Commit to growing together.
Learn new skills. Do therapy. Go to workshops. Read the books. Relationships don’t thrive on love alone, they thrive on shared evolution.
3️⃣ Hone your communication skills.
Not just when things are falling apart. This is an ongoing practice, not a one-time conversation.
4️⃣ Never make assumptions. Stay curious.
No matter how long you’ve been together. This applies in everyday life and in the bedroom. Curiosity keeps desire and connection alive.
5️⃣ Have regular relationship check-ins.
Ideally weekly, at least monthly. This is how you catch things early and stop resentment from quietly building.
6️⃣ Create a pattern interrupt.
A word, a hand signal, a song, something you use when one of you is triggered to break the loop, soften the moment, and come back to each other.
If you want to improve your health, you go to the gym.
You look at your nutrition. You move your body consistently.
If you want to improve your mental or emotional health, you go to therapy.
If you want to sleep better, you change your habits.
But when it comes to relationships…
You want better sex.
You want to stop having the same argument on repeat.
You want to feel close again, connected again, like you actually like each other again.
And most people do… nothing.
They wait.
They hope.
They assume it’ll just fix itself with time..it won’t, baby!
Great relationships don’t happen by accident.
They’re built with intention, presence, and a willingness to keep learning.
