THE NEXT PART IS STARTING

You would have hated all this fluff and attention, but what’s one more eye roll outta you really gonna do. As stupid as it sounds, I really thought your end would be a bit more grand, given the size of the life you had. But I guess a little room full of some people who love you, rubbing oil on your arms and softly singing to drown out the beeping is better than many folks get.

Thank you, for all of it. You raised my mother to be wonderful and terrifying, and the world is much better for it. I got all my best parts from you. You made me funny and you made me brave. You demanded that I be curious, that I handle my liquor, that I never apologize when I am not sorry, that I apologize well and mean it when I am. Whatever messes she and I get ourselves into next, I am positive you will be proud and entertained.

I hope whatever happens next for you is sweeter and softer and bigger than the last run. Be good, sailor.

Postcards from the Dolomites with @tablethotels.

I recently road-tripped through the Dolomites, staying at a couple of amazing hotels along the way thanks to Tablet.

I started at Faloria in Cortina, which made it incredibly easy to explore the town and places like Lago di Misurina and Cadini di Misurina before heading back each night. Cortina itself is such a charming town, and there are so many beautiful places within easy driving distance.

From there, I made my way to FORESTIS, which was easily one of the most memorable hotels I’ve stayed at. It also put me within easy reach of Lago di Braies and Val di Funes, two places I’ve wanted to visit for years. Between exploring during the day, the food, the views, and evenings spent relaxing by the fire, it was truly an unforgettable few days.

If you’re planning a trip through the Dolomites, Tablet Hotels makes it easy to find hotels that actually add to the experience, not just give you somewhere to stay.

2nd place at the Ironman World Championship. Another crazy race on this island! 🌺🌋

My best result in Kona so far, in an incredibly strong field and conditions I won’t forget anytime soon.

I’m proud of this result, but even more so of the performance and mental effort it took to get there.

After a challenging swim, feeling seasick for most of it, I had to reset my expectations and keep believing I could still turn things around. A 180 km solo ride wasn’t exactly the race I had imagined, but looking back, maybe it was exactly what I needed: focusing on myself, staying patient and racing my own race.

Coming off the bike without losing too much time to the front was a huge positive, especially after the gaps that opened up last year. Taking that momentum into the run was key and for the first time in my five Kona starts, I felt good, in control and able to really race.

Playing catch-up on the run was fun. 😉 And somewhere along the way, I think I finally found the peace on this island I had been hoping for.

Mahalo, Kona. You challenged me, pushed me and gave me a race to remember. 🌺

Huge thanks to everyone who supported me, on and off the course and especially to my team on the ground, who kept believing in me every step of the way. This one means a lot. 🫶🏻⚡️
