The first argument frames population growth and consumption as environmental pressures. Imagine a struggling family being told to eat less, consume less, and accept higher costs in the name of sustainability, while private jets, luxury yachts, and enormous resource-intensive lifestyles remain symbols of success. Environmental limits are real, and population, consumption, technology, and resource distribution all matter. But treating human beings as disposable is not environmental responsibility. Nor should the burden of sustainability fall disproportionately on people with the least power and the smallest ecological footprints. The debate should be about fair resource use, not deciding whose lives are worth preserving.
