the Drawing Sesh

Today 12 February
MYTHICAL CREATURES
a workshop in drawing hybridity
5-6pm UK/ 6-7pm CET

Hi Seshers and friends,

Carnival season is upon us, and we celebrate by drawing MYTHICAL CREATURES! Chimeras, monsters and other hybrid creatures have long inspired artists across the world, and in this session we continue the tradition by looking at imaginary animals as an inspiration.

The pitch

For an hour, we draw MYTHICAL CREATURES, looking at artistic inspirations in the process. We’ll focus on artists who’ve explored themes of hybridity in their work, including the following: American artist Kiki Smith (b. 1954), Congolose painter Bodo (1953-2015), Peruvian painter Santiago Yahuarcani (b. 1961) and Dutch Renaissance painter Hieronymus Bosch.

The lay-out

We’ll draw from a selection of digital collages specially made for the occasion. Drawing times will vary between 3 and 7 minutes.

After the Sesh

We’ll share our work with you after the session, and invite you to do the same.

This is a recorded session, shared with supporters of our Fan Tier.

MYTHICAL CREATURES is workshop 7/9 of our Winter-Spring term.

We’re excited to draw with you soon!
