This time last week Austen treated me to a 6 course Indian tasting menu with wine pairings at @club.india.uk in Winnersh for my birthday. Outstanding food, delicious wines and Singh our host along with his staff was friendly, knowledgable and even sang me happy birthday! 🥳 🍛 🍹 🍷

I saw this… and I was like yep… I know the feeling. And this is exactly why I created a seat at the table. And it’s exactly why I sit with women that have done the work and continue to do the work. That can hold complexity and nuance. That don’t just talk about raising women up, they constantly do it. Open doors, make connections, share their work. Rooms with depth, authenticity, and expansion feel different. It’s funny because even in making this I was like but I don’t want ‘the others’ to feel excluded 🙈 however I know they just won’t come. I have sat at ‘premium’ tables, where there was still exclusion. I have opened doors, given my time, made introductions to those that wouldn’t do the same. And I will continue to do it. But oh how I crave spaces where this is the norm. Where we help other women just because we can. And do you know what makes me saddest of all? The men get this right… they are way more willing to help out their peers, make business connections. I have meetings with men and they ask me, what’s one introduction I can make for you this week that would help your business grow 🤯 But most women? Well, they’re too busy adjusting their own crowns to notice another woman’s is falling. And some of them… intentionally knock it to the ground. Why are we like this? And something I constantly sit with. How can we be the change?
