@epa_northeastandcaribbean is tackling over a century of industrial contamination in three major segments for the cleanup at the Gowanus Canal Superfund Site.
✅ EPA recently completed dredging and capping in the first part - the upper segment of the canal.
🚧 Two massive tanks (8-million-gallon and 4-million-gallon) are under construction to control Combined Sewer Overflows (CSOs), preventing contamination from being discharged into the canal.
🔨 Right now, the EPA is working on the second part - the middle section of the canal - with new bulkhead walls being built to support the dredging process, which will continue into 2026.
We are doing the work needed to begin work on the third and final section.
Join us in supporting this essential cleanup effort!
