Polls are looking pretty bleak for Republicans—and the Trump administration’s various attempts to interfere with the elections haven’t been too successful either. In recent weeks, the Department of Justice, helmed by Attorney General Todd Blanche, a proponent of conspiracy theories about widespread noncitizen voting in the 2020 election, has pulled out all the stops to sow doubt in voters’ minds about the security and validity of the electoral process. To do this, the DOJ has spent the last year demanding unredacted voter rolls, issuing executive orders to wrest control of elections from states, raiding election offices, proposing new laws to disenfranchise millions of citizens, and claiming that noncitizens were voting en masse across the country. (Incidents of verified noncitizen voting are vanishingly rare, as multiple bipartisan investigations have shown.) On Thursday, the DOJ sent letters to election officials in all 50 states warning them that they would pursue criminal action if they failed to preserve election records for 22 days. Earlier that week, a federal judge had admonished the Trump administration for making similar threats around criminal prosecution against election officials in a different case. “They're trying to create chaos and distrust in the system,” says Shelby Wayment, staff attorney at UCLA Law’s Safeguarding Democracy Project. “They're trying to file these now knowing they have virtually no chance of winning and then after they can claim the election was fraudulent.” Tap the 🔗 in bio to read the full story.
Gov. Pritzker on Haley Stevens: It’s just terrible. Honestly, if you’re not on board and supporting Democrats taking over the Senate, you should just be quiet. And a vote for Mike Rogers is a vote for Donald Trump. I just don’t understand why she’s done this.
Apparently 3 years of pursuing what you love means becoming something completely unrecognizable. Today I am proud and amazed to announce I am one of 25 creators recognized as a 2026 Instagram Rings Winner, a new @instagram award celebrating creators who took bold creative chances this year. There are truly no words to describe the privilege I feel being able to share my passion with all of you, and the impact I am able to make while doing it. Throughout my life, I’ve been so many things: a poor student, a great student, a beginner, a teacher, a hard worker, but I have never been a winner. Winning this award means so much more to me than simply having something to brag about and I can only thank you all for giving me the opportunities to work harder, the motivation to achieve more, and the courage to keep learning no matter how many times I fail. I am so incredibly grateful to every one of you. Growing up, I always dreamed of being “interesting enough” to make videos and share my life online, and looking back now, it feels surreal to see that dream become my reality. I hope you all know that I intend to use this immense privilege you’ve given me to give back even more to the incredible community we’ve built together, and, as always, to continue growing and learning alongside you all. Thank you again to Instagram for this recognition and if you want to see the full list of winners you can find them at @creators #metapartner #neverstoplearning
