Governments Are Saying Get Ready. Here's Why Britain says three days. Norway says a week. Germany says ten. Ireland and Poland posted booklets to every home, and the Pentagon wants its biggest bases able to run on their own for ninety days. We read every list so you don't have to: why governments say they're asking, the six pressures behind it, the list they all agree on, and the one item almost nobody thinks about. What would your home run out of first? Tell us in the comments. Donald Trump promised a glorious new era for the working man in America in his campaign for the 2024 election. Instead, many of those the president claimed he would help have lost out, while richer Americans have made gains. Take the stock market: many have benefited from the AI bonanza, which has driven up the value of the S&P 500. But the impact is lopsided. Of the $17trn increase in Americans’ equity and mutual-fund wealth since the end of 2024, nearly 90% accrued to the richest tenth of households, compared with just 0.6% for the poorer half, as our chart shows. Tap the link in our bio to read our analysis of the winners and losers of Trumponomics.
