رویترز گزارش داد ارتش کره جنوبی اعلام کرد کره شمالی دوشنبه ۲۰ مهر چند موشک بالستیک از نزدیکی پیونگ‌یانگ به سوی آب‌های شرقی شلیک کرده است؛ اقدامی که هم‌زمان با افزایش تنش‌ها میان دو کره انجام شد.

ستاد مشترک ارتش کره جنوبی زمان شلیک را حدود ساعت ۹:۲۰ صبح به وقت محلی اعلام کرد. گارد ساحلی ژاپن نیز پیش‌تر از شلیک دو پرتابه خبر داده و گفته بود به نظر می‌رسد هر دو سقوط کرده‌اند.

تنش‌ها در هفته‌های اخیر و در پی آزمایش‌های تسلیحاتی دو طرف افزایش یافته است. انفجار مین در منطقه مرزی نیز ماه گذشته سه سرباز کره جنوبی را زخمی کرد. سئول، پیونگ‌یانگ را مسئول کارگذاری مین‌ها دانست، اما کره شمالی این اتهام را رد کرد.

هفته گذشته، لی جه‌میونگ، رییس‌جمهوری کره جنوبی، بر نخستین آزمایش موشک هایپرسونیک این کشور نظارت کرد.

کره شمالی پیش‌تر ۱۱ مهر نیز یک موشک بالستیک شلیک کرده بود که کیم یو جونگ، خواهر کیم جونگ اون، رهبر کره شمالی، آن را آزمایش یک موشک راهبردی میان‌برد توصیف کرد. پیونگ‌یانگ از ابتدای سال تاکنون بیش از ۱۰ نوبت آزمایش موشکی انجام داده است.
