๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ฒ: Iโve been a bit quiet on the race scene over the past couple of years, but Iโve been fortunate enough to witness the rise of the Ballarat Marathon during that time. Ballarat is renowned as the home of distance running in Australia, so it is always a privilege to run these roads. Other than the notorious COVID year, Iโve been on a streak of running sub-2:20 every year since 2018. My goal is to continue that streak, although itโs becoming more challenging with a growing family and increasing work commitments. As someone living in Melbourne, the Ballarat Marathon is a no-brainer. Itโs only a short drive to what is now one of the most competitive sub-elite marathon fields in Australia. I donโt get the chance to travel overseas for racing anymore, so the opportunity to run a fast time in a competitive field is why Iโve chosen to come back to the Ballarat Marathon.
Congratulations to Reece Edwards, our 2025 Ballarat Marathon champion, on his victory at the Port Fairy Marathon yesterday, stopping the clock in a blistering 2:21:58.
Momentum is building as he eyes the Ballarat Marathon, where heโll return to defend his crown and chase back-to-back titles.
See you on the start line, ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ฒ!
