In a shocking incident reported from Assam Engineering College (AEC), a de*d monkey was reportedly found inside a water tank at Hostel No. 7.
The discovery came after students complained of an unusual smell coming from the water supply.
More than 50 students fell ill after consuming and using the contaminated water for their daily needs. The same water was allegedly used for cooking at the hostel mess.
The affected students were admitted to Jalukbari Ayurvedic College Hospital, with several requiring saline drips as part of their treatment.
Reportedly, the monkey’s b*dy had remained inside the tank for nearly a week, while students had continued using the water since Durga Puja.
The Hostel Superintendent promptly reverted to the students’ complaint and ensured that the tank has been cleaned later.
These cases raise serious concerns about the safety and hygiene mainteinance of water storage facilities at the college’s hostels.
