Kandi • Fly Above EP • 2009 Kandi Burruss spent the first half of the 2000s as one of the most successful songwriters of the time, and also launching a solo career with her 2000 debut “Hey Kandi”. When Kandi reemerged as a cast member of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, the world was “re-introduced” to her as a single mother who was rebuilding her music career, and working on a new album, Kandi Koated, which we’d get at the end of 2010. In the meantime, Kandi would release the Fly Above EP, which was actually released 17 years ago today, isn’t that coincidental, an EP made up of songs that we saw Kandi recording during her debut season of Housewives, songs based on her life at the time, her at the time pending marriage, her life as a single mother, and her anthem to all the haters in her life, her theme song, Fly Above, which still resonates almost 20 years later… (Damn @kandi , can you believe it’s almost been that long?) In the years since, we’ve seen Kandi go from rebuilding her career to becoming a master class in reinvention, instead of becoming just another legacy act, she’s become legacy. All of these years later, I’m always telling Kandi to drop another album, make some more music, get back in the booth, but now I realized that neither the Fly Above EP nor Kandi Koated is on Apple Music anymore 🤨… @kandi we gotta get those back up sis! There were many of us who loved these songs back then, like I Like Him with Rick Ross and her Peachcandy groupmate @rasheeda , Trade Him In with Gucci Mane, I Just Know and Must Be Good, which was my favorite. Y’all remember the Fly Above EP? #Urbansoulsuite

Update from Team Tilly: Whenever we used to ask Tilly if there was anything we could do, she would often joke “get me a new body” 🤸🏼‍♀️ Tilly is sadly still in a medically induced coma, on a ventilator, and any new infection could set her back weeks ⏳ But there are some green shoots of progress 🌿🪻She has been more stable for the last week and her previous infections are under control now ✅ Her doctors are planning more open abdominal surgeries, after the 🔟 surgeries she’s already had on this admission. These surgeries are the key 🗝️🔒 If they go well, they could finally set her free to recover from this horrendous experience ⛓️‍💥 Even then, the doctors have told us the recovery will be unlike anything Tilly has experienced before, mentally and physically 😔 After weeks in a medically induced coma, on a ventilator, one of her biggest challenges will be breathing. At first, she won’t be strong enough to breathe unsupported for more than 10 minutes 😮‍💨 Tilly has also lost muscle all over the rest of her body and she’ll need intense physiotherapy to walk again. We’ll only find out just how hard this will be - and how long it will take - when she eventually wakes and tries to move 🚶🏼‍♀️ And we can’t fathom how hard it will be for Tilly to wrap her head around everything she’s been through 🫣 We will do everything we can to wrap our arms around her and support her through it 🫂 But we also know how much her writing ✍🏼 and this wonderful community have helped her in the past 👫 We are praying these next surgeries will finally give Tilly her dream of a new body 🤸🏼‍♀️, allow our dandelion to bloom again 🌼, and get her back to her writing ✍🏼 We know there are so many more chapters in this story 📚 The picture shows Tilly a few years ago in a field of dandelions, making a wish 🌼 Fiancé, Mum, Dad, and Auntie #BePatient #PatientAdvocate #ChronicIllnessAwareness #HealthJourney #InvisibleIllness
