Villagers in Mana-Tuta, Nava Raipur, Chhattisgarh, staged a Chipko-style protest by hugging trees to prevent their felling for a proposed Film City project. The protesters opposed the project's proposed location, raising concerns over the loss of trees, many of which are reportedly 30–40 years old. Police detained 10 protesters and took them to Mana police station. They were reportedly released after around an hour. The villagers said they were not against development but wanted the project shifted to an alternative location to protect the existing trees.
