The Cult You’ve Probably Never Heard Of, but U.S. Politicians Love What makes someone join a cult? It’s rarely as simple as being “brainwashed.” Cults often begin with something that sounds appealing: belonging, purpose, spirituality, or the promise of a better life. The danger comes when a charismatic leader gradually gains control over how members think, who they trust, and even who they’re allowed to leave behind. Some cults have ended in mass deaths, violence, or horrifying abuse. Others operated for decades while appearing completely ordinary from the outside. The most unsettling part? Many people who join a cult don’t realize they’re joining one. #iran #war #cult #usa #history
Being a woman on social media is a funny place. Someone will make a comment about your body, but the moment you speak up about it, suddenly you’re too sensitive. You’re told you shouldn’t read the comments, that you should just ignore them, or even worse, that it’s your fault because of the clothes you’re wearing. But the reality is, it isn’t the woman’s fault. Day in, day out, I get comments about my body. I block, I delete, I ignore. But somehow, they always come back, like mould in an old house. I share my travels. I share the people I meet, the cultures I experience and the incredible places I get to visit. Yet somehow, for some people, the only thing worth commenting on is the size of my chest. And it’s exhausting. For years, I would wear clothes to hide my body. I’d cover myself up because I didn’t want that kind of attention. But even then, people would still find a way to sexualise me. I’ve travelled to countries where I’ve dressed more conservatively, both out of respect for the local culture and because that’s what I feel comfortable wearing. But it doesn’t seem to matter what I wear. Someone will always find something to say. And I think that’s what frustrates me the most. Because why should I have to change the way I dress, the way I present myself, or even the content I create, just because someone else can’t look at a woman without sexualising her?
