Neighbors, this man was out here posing with stacks of cash piled up to his neck while allegedly running a massive identity theft operation worth nearly $30 million! Laqaun Williams, 42, of New Jersey, was sentenced to 16 years in federal prison Wednesday after prosecutors revealed he had been caught with more than $2 million in stolen cash, over 1,000 stolen checks, and hundreds of stolen credit card numbers.
________
According to federal prosecutors, Williams operated an elaborate fraud ring across New York and New Jersey between 2021 and 2024, paying people to impersonate bank customers using stolen identities. One stolen U.S. Treasury check alone was worth a staggering $14 million. Investigators also discovered two handguns loaded with hollow point ammunition. Meanwhile, photos submitted in court showed Williams partying in nightclubs, pressing bundles of cash against his face, and practically burying himself in money.
________
What’s even crazier is that Williams had already served five years in federal prison for similar crimes and was still on supervised release when he started scamming again. “For nearly two decades, Williams has been stealing money from innocent bank customers,” U.S. Attorney Jamie McDonald said. This time, his flashy lifestyle and repeated criminal behavior helped land him a lengthy prison sentence.

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz has openly described the destruction of southern Lebanon as the implementation of a “Gaza model”, boasting on Israel’s Channel 14 that more than 60 villages and 23,000 homes have been destroyed.

Katz said villages across a 700-square-kilometre area had been wiped out, with around 200,000 residents displaced from their homes.

“This is the Gaza model. And this is the model we are implementing,” Katz declared.

Israel’s invasion of Lebanon has brought widespread destruction, civilian deaths, mass displacement and the devastation of entire communities.

Journalists have been killed in Israeli strikes, while restrictions on movement and the destruction of homes have left civilians unable to return to their land or move between villages.

Serious concerns have been raised by international human rights organisations and UN experts over potential violations of international humanitarian law, including the killing of civilians, the targeting of journalists, widespread destruction of civilian infrastructure and the forced displacement of people across Lebanon.

WTACH: Settlers steal sheep while soldiers shoot live fire to prevent Palestinians from protecting their properties.

Organized sheep theft this morning in the village of Ma’in: Settlers and soldiers stole 200 sheep and goats after invading the villages of Ma’in and Karmel, south of Yatta, causing damage estimated at some 600,000 shekels.

Before the theft, numerous settlers and a military force were seen gathering at the outpost in Qawawis, several hundred meters from the area where the theft took place. Shortly afterward, they invaded the Ma’in area together - moving from house to house and stealing livestock from three different families - while soldiers fired tear gas and prevented Palestinians from protecting their property, and the police looked on from the side.

The phenomenon of settlers stealing livestock with the backing of the army and/or police is one of the most devastating blows Israel inflicts on Palestinian farmers. In the Masafer Yatta area, we have already reported a large number of such incidents this year, often involving the direct participation of soldiers, police officers, as well as well-known settlers.
