2 months agoWhy is -30 wrong, you have to find whats under the square root. With x=-30, it gives 25 (positive). The square root limits the domain to -x-5 >= 0 (x =< -5), not x >= 0
2 months agoThe root itself is over -(-30)-5 so it's fine. As it is a possitive number after the equation
2 months agoIt can be simplified as sqrt[-1] × sqrt[x+5]=-5. From now, its easy. sqrt[x+5]=-5/i. X+5=(-5/i)^2. X+5=25/-1. X+5=-25. X=-25-5. X=-30.
2 months agoIt’s wrong but for the wrong reason, when replacing x you don’t care what is infront of it -(x). So then it would be -(-30) which is just 30, 30-5 is 25 and the square root of 25 is 5 and that’s where it’s wrong 5≠-5
2 months agoX=-30, but X also equalss20, when canceling the square root and square of something, you gotta put it in these brackets: ||..|-x-5|=25, |-20-5|=25, |-25|=25, 25=25.
3 months agoWhen you square the root the number inside the root comes out with an absolute value so it will be x+5
