My oldest turns 19 in April.
Sine becoming a mother in 2007 I have breastfed for a total of 125 months or 10.5 years.

Here is how my breastfeeding journey has looked…
1st: BF for 1 month then switched to formula
2nd: BF for 21 months exclusively
3rd: BF for 18 months exclusively
4th: BF for 30 months exclusively
5th and 6th (twins): BF 18 months (one twin had a few bottles in the hospital while my milk was coming in and then exclusively BF after that)
7th and 8th (twins): BF for 18. One twin was tongue tied and struggled to latch for a while. Had surgery and latching improved. My milk supply did not come on strong like my previous twins. Gave them 2-3 bottles of formula a day alongside of BFing until about 10 months old when they were eating more solids.
9th: BF 19 months exclusively and still currently BFing her

My 19 month old is nursing 2x during the day and 2-3x at night. I’ll fully wean her by the time she’s 2.

As you can see none of my BFing experiences have been exactly the same. I adjusted and did what I felt both baby(babies) and I needed at that time.

For me BFing is so much easier than bottle feeding even when it comes to tandem nursing twins. But everyone is different every journey is different.

How long have you been breastfeeding?

I have 4 babies and been breastfeeding for 10 years and 5 months non stop, al through pregnancies. Still love it and putting my 2 year old to sleep this way ❤️ My favourite part of the day feeding her.

Oh my goodness! I breast fed my daughter for 42 months and am just 6 months out of not breastfeeding and still feel like I’m recovering. 3.5 years felt like a lot… I cannot imagine over 10. Well done. 🙏🏼💛

How do you do that ? I’m mom of 2 and my 1st I did I think 1.5 years and second is 11 days old and she drinks every1.5 hour and fell asleep quickly so I have to do everything to wake her up. Because of less sleep and my 1st I don’t know how to do this all 😔

That’s incredible! I totally understand the breastfeeding experience is so incredibly different for each child. But BF is 100% easier than bottle, babysitting with a baby with a bottle was extremely difficult, especially when I BF. My first was also tongue tied, it was hard at first but once cut much easier.

I’m in a similar boat! 6 baby’s (7on the way), I have breastfed 11 of the 13 years I’ve had children. Huge accomplishment.
