Since my childhood, I have witnessed and experienced violence and abuse. I am the person I am today because of my mother; she taught me how to speak and how to empathize with others, even when surrounded by darkness. My mother is a woman who endured unimaginable violence from her in-laws and from society itself.
Perhaps this is why I can never accept a simple binary. I carry so much rage and pain, especially when I see women treated merely as products—as “God’s pleasure to mankind.” It is hideous and a nuisance to interpret religion through a patriarchal lens.
No matter how much we speak about women’s safety or how loudly we protest, not a single day passes without reports of children being victims of horrific violence. And who do we blame? Advocacy for women should not be confined to a single day of the year; it must be a daily practice.
My heart aches every day as I navigate the male privilege I hold, while also belonging to a spectrum I am both scared and angry to name within a structure overseen by men.
This thread is for WOMEN. I still see friends, family, and relatives unable to break patterns of abuse because of how brutally they have been conditioned. May this thread offer help, and I pray for a new world unshaped by patriarchy. I cannot bring myself to utter the word “Happy” this International Women’s Day; however, my voice and my soul reach out to every woman and to the Divine.
The song is relevant because it is a conversation between the soul and the self -The conditioned mind and the unconditioned
