Halloween is supposed to be about dressing up as monsters, ghosts, and soldiers for one night. But in Gaza, horror isn’t a costume, and fear isn’t something we take off when the night ends. We live it every single day. Our reality is more terrifying than any Halloween horror story could ever portray. 💔 A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Hadi M, a doctor from America who came to Gaza himself to help in our hospitals and witness the reality with his own eyes. May God bless his heart and reward him for his compassion. Because of the lack of produce entering Gaza, we couldn’t find chicken, so we bought meat instead. Something easily accessible to many outside Gaza remains a struggle for so many of us here. We dressed up as soldiers because that’s the scariest reality of living in Gaza: waking up every day in constant fear of losing your life. I’m sure you see enough horror outside my page. I choose not to share it all because not every heart can bear what we live through. God bless everyone who has to live like a soldier every single day just to survive. And once again, thank you, Hadi M, for funding this event and the many more to come. May God bless you and your loved ones abundantly. 🙏🏻❤️
Update from Team Tilly: Whenever we used to ask Tilly if there was anything we could do, she would often joke “get me a new body” 🤸🏼‍♀️ Tilly is sadly still in a medically induced coma, on a ventilator, and any new infection could set her back weeks ⏳ But there are some green shoots of progress 🌿🪻She has been more stable for the last week and her previous infections are under control now ✅ Her doctors are planning more open abdominal surgeries, after the 🔟 surgeries she’s already had on this admission. These surgeries are the key 🗝️🔒 If they go well, they could finally set her free to recover from this horrendous experience ⛓️‍💥 Even then, the doctors have told us the recovery will be unlike anything Tilly has experienced before, mentally and physically 😔 After weeks in a medically induced coma, on a ventilator, one of her biggest challenges will be breathing. At first, she won’t be strong enough to breathe unsupported for more than 10 minutes 😮‍💨 Tilly has also lost muscle all over the rest of her body and she’ll need intense physiotherapy to walk again. We’ll only find out just how hard this will be - and how long it will take - when she eventually wakes and tries to move 🚶🏼‍♀️ And we can’t fathom how hard it will be for Tilly to wrap her head around everything she’s been through 🫣 We will do everything we can to wrap our arms around her and support her through it 🫂 But we also know how much her writing ✍🏼 and this wonderful community have helped her in the past 👫 We are praying these next surgeries will finally give Tilly her dream of a new body 🤸🏼‍♀️, allow our dandelion to bloom again 🌼, and get her back to her writing ✍🏼 We know there are so many more chapters in this story 📚 The picture shows Tilly a few years ago in a field of dandelions, making a wish 🌼 Fiancé, Mum, Dad, and Auntie #BePatient #PatientAdvocate #ChronicIllnessAwareness #HealthJourney #InvisibleIllness
